About Nature Tours of Yukon
Hi there! Nice to meet you.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know us better. We love to make new friends.
So what are we all about then?
The difference Nature Tours of Yukon makes.
Nature adventures are only as good as your guide.
Despite all the intricate planning that goes into creating a superlative nature adventure, we know a successful trip can only happen with an extraordinary guide at the helm. That’s why we're proud to have a collection of fine Yukon wilderness guides! Not many companies undertake in-depth guide training as we do. Nature Tours of Yukon has the most experienced guides available in Yukon.
The smallest groups in the industry
Can you imagine trying to walk silently along a secluded trail, careful not to disturb wildlife, with 20 or 30 other travelers? Or stepping ashore on a remote river to explore pristine boreal wilderness with dozens of other tourists at your side? We know that meaningful nature encounters must take place in small groups. That's why our trips average just five to twelve guests, by far the smallest groups in the industry. This not only guarantees you much more personal close-up wildlife encounters, it also ensures a lower-impact presence on the planet's special places we all love.
The best vehicles
As a company that offers adventures all over Yukon, Alaska and Northwest Territories, we use many different types of vehicles, from 4x4 luxury cars for exploring the arctic and ice roads to vans and trailers to transport you and your equipment to river or trail. The one consistent element is that our vehicles are always the best available, providing the safest and most comfortable ride. Further, with our uncompromising small-group policy, we also limit the number of travelers in each vehicle to below capacity (and well below the number other companies place in them), ensuring a more comfortable and more personalized nature experience.
We won’t cancel!
If you've ever experienced the disappointment of having your long-awaited adventure canceled at the last minute because the tour company didn’t sell enough spaces, you’ll appreciate our promise never to cancel a trip due to low enrollment. That’s right - If we confirmed a departure to you, we’re going!
We know our way around the North. We have driven almost every mile of highway and know the back roads. We paddled the rivers, walked the trails, been licked by sled dogs, snowshoed the mountain trails, spent nights under the stars and watched the Aurora Borealis.
Nature Tours of Yukon is based in Whitehorse for 25 years. We are a member of Wilderness Tourism Association Yukon (WTAY), Tourism Industry Association Yukon (TIA Yukon), Klondike Visitors Association (KVA), and Canadian Inbound Tourism Association Asia Pacific (CITAP).
Our goal is to be your one-stop address for year-round wilderness adventures, travel and accommodation in Yukon and Alaska. Our team of skilled, professional, licensed guides and drivers will always go the extra mile to provide you, our guest, with a safe, enjoyable and unforgettable experience. We have many returning customers who came as guests and left as friends.

The 'behind the scenes' people:
My name is Joost van der Putten. I'm the President and General Manager of Nature Tours of Yukon Inc. After being quite successful in project management traveling all over the world, I chose Yukon tourism as my new career. I'm an expert in planning and organizing and strive to take Nature Tours of Yukon’s service to a level above and beyond the ordinary. I also use my organizing skills as board member of TIA Yukon and I'm a member of Yukon's Tourism Marketing Committee. (I'm multi-lingual and speak English, Deutsch, Français and Nederlands).
Hi, my name is Karine Genest. I’m the Operation Manager and Lead Guide. I started guiding in 1998 as a rafting guide in Quebec, Eastern Canada. Through the years, I’ve worked as a sea-kayaking guide and dog sledding guide. I have a Bachelor Degree in Outdoor Activities and Tourism at UQAC. I learned there that the Yukon was the place for outdoor activities, so I moved here after graduating. As a person that loves the north, I need variety. I became an expedition guide; I’ve been guiding trips from sightseeing-tours and school trips to hiking and canoeing expeditions. The water is my specialty, white-water rafting and canoeing, I feel, balances me. My slogan is: Never stop exploring! Never stop dreaming! Live, learn and grow! (I speak Français and English)
Hello there! I’m Conny, your friendly Accounts / Office Manager. I try to keep everything here organized. I also lend a hand where ever it’s needed: Driving transfers, cleaning gear, making coffee....... I have 25 years of experience in bookkeeping and computer application management. I love nature, canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. And every time I see the Northern Lights dancing, I’m in awe. Besides my work for Nature Tours of Yukon I am an artist. I like to paint landscapes and abstracts inspired by nature. The vast wilderness of the Yukon is the perfect inspiration for me. (I speak English, Nederlands and Deutsch).
