"I really enjoyed the extreme cold, even though people back here in FL think I'm nuts! :-) I'm so glad the snow was still on the trees & everywhere else when I was there!"

Day 1
Itinerary: (8 days)
Day 1
We greet you at the airport and transfer you to the Hotel in downtown Whitehorse. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2
McQuesten River TripAfter breakfast we'll drive via Carmacks, Stewart Crossing and Mayo to the McQuesten River (460 km, 285 miles) where we'll start our canoe trip. Here we'll load our canoes and begin our paddling adventure. After a short paddle we'll select a good spot for our first camp on the shore of the McQuesten River.

Days 3 to 5
McQuesten River Canoe TripThe river is fairly easy to paddle and the current helps us along. We have ample time to fish and hopefully we'll complement our larder with fresh Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling or even a Lake Trout. The many twists and turns of the river offer us many vistas. We have to be on the lookout for floating trees and other obstacles in the water. In summer bears come to the McQuesten River to fish the salmon migrating upriver to the spawning grounds. Chances of seeing fishing bears are excellent. With some luck, we may also observe other wildlife such as moose and beaver. Most certainly we'll see a wide variety of birds, such as golden and bald eagle, mergansers, geese, loons and many varieties of ducks. We'll cover about 130 km / 80 miles on the McQuesten River and we'll have plenty of time to enjoy our camp life and take short hikes on the hills flanking the river to appreciate the many natural wonders. They offer beautiful views and opportunities to study the local flora and fauna.
Day 6
Today we'll arrive at the bridge on the Klondike Highway. This marks the end of our canoe experience and we'll load everything into the waiting van for our drive to Dawson City (140 km / 90 miles). On arrival we'll drop off our stuff at the funky Bunkhouse Motel and spend some time visiting the town. In the evening we'll try our luck at the gambling hall of Diamond Tooth Gerties.

Day 7
Dawson City TourAfter breakfast we'll visit the impressive Dredge #4 and then pan for gold at an active mining claim. You may keep all the gold you find! We then return to Whitehorse (540km, 340 miles) by van. We'll arrive in Whitehorse in late afternoon where you'll spend the last night at the Hotel. A hot shower and comfortable beds will be most welcome.
Day 8
Today we'll bring you to the airport for your flight home, or you'll take off on your own for the next adventure.

The Aurora Borealis in Canada is without a doubt a phenomenon that nature has so generously bestowed upon us, and thousands of people every year make the trek to the Yukon countryside to see this dazzling display of magical lights. In fact, at Nature Tours of Yukon, our guests by and large come to Whitehorse to take part in a Northern Lights tour that will likely render them speechless. If you would get a thrill out of experiencing the razzle-dazzle of the Aurora Borealis firsthand, we would be just as thrilled to help you plan a customized trip.

You may have heard about the Aurora Borealis, or perhaps even seen some captivating pictures of the Northern Lights in books. We assure you that these photos you may have seen can in no way compare to actually viewing the Aurora Borealis in person. The magnetic pull of the dancing lights in the midnight sky will lock your eyes in the upwards position, as you will not want to blink for fear of missing one moment of such exquisite natural beauty. The Northern Lights have been inspiring people around the world for centuries, simply because they are so wondrously captivating and magical, that no man-made display of lights could ever match their twinkling beauty and grace.

Lose Yourself in the Aurora Borealis Could you use a little rest and relaxation? Perhaps you could use a little reprieve from the high-tech world we live in for some quiet solitude out in the Canadian Yukon. Imagine sitting in a heated tent surrounded by pristine wilderness, with the Northern Lights being the only illumination around you. If you long for some peace and quiet, let the sparkling lights of the Aurora Borealis transport you to that place in your heart and mind that feels content just being the observer.

There is nothing for you to do but simply enjoy the natural fireworks display of the Aurora Borealis. You and your fellow travelers can enjoy some hot chocolate and good conversation, from the comfort of a heated tent or cabin, without any ‘To Do’ lists to worry about or errands to run or people to call. When you take a Northern Lights adventure tour with us, you can check your responsibilities at the door and allow the natural beauty of the landscape to envelop you and intoxicate your senses.
