Guided River & Hiking Tours
Guests are responsible for providing the following:
Camping equipment:
- Water proof pack sacks
- Day pack for short hikes
- Hiking boots and sneakers or sandals for camp
- Good Sleeping bag (temperatures can drop below freezing)
- Hiking pants (quick dry), shirts / blouses (no cotton)
- sleeping pad / Thermarest, jogging pants / long johns, underwear, socks
- Good rain jacket and pants
- Fleece sweater
- Sun hat, warm hat and gloves for the fall tours
- Mosquito Repellent & Mosquito nets
Toiletries / First Aid:
- Toothbrush & -paste, biodegradable soap, small towel
- hair brush, sun glasses, sun lotion
- prescription spare glasses, lip balm, band-aid
- The guides are certified in First Aid and carry a limited first aid kit.
- Please bring your own prescription drugs.
Miscellaneous equipment:
- Water bottle
- Pocket Knife
- Matches / lighter
- binoculars (lightweight)
- Camera
- flash light (August / September)
- diary / note pad / pen
Nature Tours of Yukon provides the following equipment:
- Tents, bear spray (pepper spray), first aid kit
- Watertight barrels for your clothing and sleeping bag
- Small waterproof bag for sunglasses, etc.
- Canoes, paddles, life jackets
- Food & beverages, camp stove / fuel, kitchen equipment & eating utensils
- First Aid Kit
Equipment List
Chilkoot Trail
When planning your equipment, please keep in mind that you will carry your own pack over the Chilkoot Pass. Besides your personal gear you will carry your share of food and equipment.
Nature Tours of Yukon provides the following equipment:
- Tents, bear spray (pepper spray), first aid kit
- Food & beverages, camp stove / fuel, kitchen equipment & eating utensils
Guests are responsible for providing the following:
Camping equipment:
- comfortable backpack (75-90l), hiking- / trekking boots, fleece jacket / pullover
- waterproof pack bags, running shoes for camp use, T-shirts
- sleeping bag, hiking pants (quick dry), shirts / blouses
- sleeping pad / Thermarest, jogging pants / long johns, underwear
- thermos / water bottle, rain / wind jacket, socks
- pocket knife, rain / wind pants, wool gloves
- matches / lighter, hat / sun protection, scarf / warm cap (wool)
- You will carry your own pack over the Chilkoot Pass so keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum!
- Plan at home what you will carry over the pass and what you will leave in Whitehorse.

Documents:
- Copies of important travel documents - keep separate from originals! Valid ID / passport
- credit card ("MasterCard" and "VISA" ok, "American Express" not very useful)
- It is almost impossible to exchange foreign currencies (except US$) in the Yukon
Photo- and Video equipment:
- Please keep adequate insurance coverage on your equipment! Nature Tours of Yukon assumes no responsibility for lost or damaged equipment.
- Reduce photo equipment to a bare minimum for the hike over the Chilkoot Pass.
