Make your next trip an adventure!
The first stop on our way to the north is the small, adorable and quaint mining town Keno on the Silver Trail. Next stop: Dawson City, the hearth of the Klondike Gold Rush. Try your hand at gold panning and experience the Klondike gold rush era at Diamond Tooth Gertie’s.
Then we’re off on the road less traveled. Alaska!!!
The Top of the World Highway offers spectacular scenery and a good chance to see wildlife.
After we cross back into Yukon, another highlight of this trip comes in view: the amazing mountains of Kluane National Park.
The most breathtaking mountain views are found along this Yukon & Alaska highlights route.
Join us for this amazing adventure!
Day 1
We'll greet you at the airport and transfer you to the Hotel in downtown Whitehorse. Meet your guide and the other participants for an information meeting. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2
Today we will drive north via the Alaska and Klondike Highways. We will plan several stops along the way: Braeburn Lodge (for a coffee and the world’s largest cinnamon buns), Carmacks and their small First Nation museum, at Five Finger Rapids and Pelly Crossing. After crossing the Stewart River, we will drive part of the Silver Trail to Mayo, where we will stay for the night. Before settling in, we will explore the Silver Trail and the tiny mining museum in Keno. Overnight at the North Star Motel.
Day 3
After breakfast we will backtrack to Stewart Crossing and continue on the Klondike Highway towards Dawson City. We will plan for a brief stop at Moose Creek Lodge. On this part of the highway there are fewer sightseeing stops, but we do stop at Gravel Lake and Tintina Trench viewpoints, before taking a detour to Tombstone Territorial Park, located on the Dempster Highway (all gravel road). The Dempster Highway is an all gravel road in a majestic wilderness setting. So, it offers great chances of seeing wildlife and spectacular vistas. After our visit to Tombstone, we will return to the Klondike Highway and continue our way to Dawson City. Overnight in Dawson City (Downtown Hotel).
Day 4
The entire day is reserved for Dawson City, as there is just so much to see and do. We can finalize the program when in Dawson, but recommended are: a guided walking tour along Dawson’s historic buildings, Danoja Zho Cultural Centre, SS Keno paddle wheeler, Dawson Museum, Dredge #4, Claim #33, Midnight Dome and not to forget Diamond Tooth Gertie’s Casino and Can-Can show. Overnight in Dawson.
Day 5
After breakfast we will find our way to the ferry that takes us across the Yukon River on our way to the Top of the World Highway. This all gravel highway offers spectacular scenery and a good chance of seeing wildlife too. After crossing the border into Alaska, the character of the highway remains similar, although we slowly descend from the mountain tops. We will pass peculiar small mining towns like Chicken and end the Taylor Highway in Tetlin Junction. Here we will take a left turn onto the Alaska Highway, which brings us back to Canada and Beaver Creek, where we will stay for the night in a cozy cabin.
Day 6
Soon after leaving Beaver Creek, the mountains of Kluane National Park come into view and will stay in view until the next day. The drive to Haines Junction offers a very scenic drives and there are several opportunities for stops and maybe even a short hike, There is also an option to take a flightseeing tour over Kluane NP and fly out to Mount Logan, Canada’s tallest and the world’s largest mountain. Overnight in a rustic lodge near Haines Junction.
Day 7
We will spend most of the day in/around Kluane NP, maybe add a longer hike and/or drive the Haines Road and see more of the surroundings. On the drive back to Whitehorse the landscape, again, will not stop to amaze you. Don't put away your camera yet! Once in Whitehorse you'll check in at the hotel downtown.
Day 8
We'll take you to the airport in time for your flight.
