This six-day canoe trip along the majestic Yukon River follows the route taken by fortune seekers of the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush.
Along with discovering relics of that historic rush for gold, you will be watching the shores for wolves, moose and bears and scouring the skies for bald eagles, falcons, and hawks. The waters of this wildlife-rich river route are home to the iconic Canadian beaver, otters, muskrats, and arctic grayling and also a world-famous salmon run.
You don’t have to be an expert paddler to enjoy this trip down the Yukon River, but do plan to enjoy wilderness camping and delicious fresh food prepared by your guide. No need to rough it on your wilderness adventure with Nature Tours of Yukon!

Our group sizes range from four to seven participants, and our company is certified for Safe Travels by the World Travel & Tourism Council.

Trip Itinerary
  • Day 1 Arrive Whitehorse Airport; transfer to hotel in the city center. In the evening your guide will explain the tour details and all you need to know for your canoe trip down the Yukon River, including expert advice on packing your dry bags.
  • Day 2 In the morning we drive to Deep Creek at the shore of Lake Laberge, where a power boat brings you to the outflow of the Yukon River (± 24 kilometres) and your Yukon River canoe adventure begins! At the first campsite, we make camp and prepare dinner. You’ll have no problem falling asleep in this quiet wilderness after a day in the fresh air!
  • Days 3 to 6 After an early breakfast we're ready for the next part of the journey. Thanks to the steady current of the Yukon River, we'll reach our daily goals without a problem leaving time to stop en route to visit historic sites. The fast current of the Yukon River takes us through deep brush and forest; with some luck you might spot moose, bears, lynx, or wolves, and you’ll often catch sight of beavers and bald eagle. Our evening feast could feature fish we may catch along the way. You'll have the opportunity to learn a few tricks of bushcraft.
  • During this trip we plan one or two short hikes for a hands-on impression of the Yukon wilderness and a chance to explore Gold Rush relics.
  • Day 7 Late in the morning we arrive in Carmacks, were our canoe trip comes to an end. From here we drive back to Whitehorse, (2 hours’ drive) where you’ll no doubt appreciate a hot shower or bath followed by a hearty meal in one of Carmacks’ many restaurants.
  • Day 8 Today we'll make sure you arrive on time for your flight home.
