Base camp hiking is an ideal way to experience the majesty of Canada’s northern wilderness without roughing it too much! The base camp for this trip is located at one of Parks Canada's established campgrounds where you have access to basic facilities such as picnic table, water and outhouses. And better still - you'll carry only a light day pack on your day hikes from the camp.
Yukon’s Kluane National Park is world renowned for its idyllic lakes, sparkling rivers, majestic mountains and abundant wildlife. Kluane National Park is home to the largest non-arctic ice field in the world with glacial valleys crowned by Mount Logan, Canada’s highest peak, and is a wildlife paradise where large numbers of grizzly bears, Dall sheep and other wildlife roam freely.
At the Da Kų Cultural Centre and the Kluane National Park Visitor Centre you'll learn more about wildlife and the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations who call Kluane home.
Our group sizes range from four to seven participants, and our company is certified for Safe Travels by the World Travel & Tourism Council.
This Kluane Base-camp Hiking Tour is a great opportunity for novice hikers to explore Yukon’s beautiful Kluane National Park.
Take only photos, leave nothing but footprints.
- Day 1 In the morning we’ll drive the scenic Alaska highway to Kluane National Park. Your first views of the Kluane mountains are sure to amaze. Upon arrival in Haines Junction you’ll have time to visit the cultural and visitor centres to learn more about the area before we set up our base camp. In the afternoon we take our first short hike to get up close and personal with one of Canada’s most majestic landscapes. Overnight at the base camp. Lunch and dinner included.
- Day 2 Time for your first full day hike in Kluane! Based on the skill/fitness level of the group, a route will be selected and you're off on an adventure into mountains full of alpine wildlife (including Dall sheep, grizzly and black bears, the small mammal called pika, and many other species), glacial streams, and jaw-dropping views. You can expect to enjoy a well-deserved meal cooked over the fire after your hike! Overnight at the base camp. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
- Day 3 Another day, another day hike! Kluane’s hikes are all unique and offer incredible views from various elevations and viewpoints.
